Field note

Sasquatch Chronicles usually airs eyewitness encounters. Host Wes explains why he made an exception: when he asks people what Sasquatch is, “Nephilim would come up a lot.” Gary Wayne does not answer that question directly. He gives the show his framework instead. Nephilim appears three times in the Hebrew Bible. The spies’ report in Numbers 13:33 is “embellished.” Rephaim is the term for post-flood giants, and he counts it 25 times in Hebrew. He reads Genesis and Greek myth as the same history seen through monotheist and polytheist lenses, and he estimates the size of Og and Goliath on a royal cubit. Wayne mentions Sasquatch twice. Once he says he had not thought much about “crossover connections” before the show invited him. The other time it appears in a list of traditions found worldwide, alongside little people, pyramids, giants and the flood. For the through-line, the episode records the cryptid audience’s question without settling it, and that restraint is useful. Wayne’s post-flood genealogy, built on the curse of Canaan, is presented below as his claim.

Key claims

  1. Wes (host) · 0:02:32 · Documented

“when I would ask people, what do you think Sasquatch is? Nephilim would come up a lot.”

The host’s account of answers from eyewitnesses and listeners.

  2. Gary Wayne · 0:14:37 · Documented

“it only shows up three times in the Bible in Hebrew.”

Nephilim: Genesis 6:4, where the KJV has “giants,” and twice in Numbers 13:33.

  3. Gary Wayne · 0:14:58 · Interpretive

“In the embellished part of the report of the spies”

His reading of Numbers 13:33 as a report shaped by fear.

  4. Gary Wayne · 0:17:07 · Documented

“And Rephaim shows up 25 times in Hebrew and twice as a tribe.”

A word count he gives. Expedition Genesis has not checked it.

  5. Gary Wayne · 0:06:38 · Interpretive

“the difference between the book of Genesis and the Greek mythology is the polytheist lens versus the monotheist lens,”

His account of one history told through different traditions.

  6. Gary Wayne · 0:21:37 · Speculative

“Og would be about fifteen feet tall, fourteen to fifteen feet tall, five to six feet wide,”

Worked out on a royal cubit. He gives Goliath “eleven feet three inches” in the same passage.

Gary Wayne’s lineage claims

This is Gary Wayne’s claim, not Expedition Genesis’s view.

  • Gary Wayne · 0:22:58–0:24:36 · Speculative

He says Canaan, “because of the curse of Ham,” sent his daughters to intermarry with giants. He names “hybrid Canaanites,” “hybrid Hittites” and “hybrid Sidonians.”

  • Gary Wayne · 0:48:38–0:48:43 · Speculative

He mentions “the dark haired giants” among “the Indo Aryans of Greece.”

Scripture and texts named

Genesis 6:3. Genesis 6:4 (KJV “giants”). Numbers 13:33. Deuteronomy 2. The Table of Nations (Genesis 10; 1 Chronicles 1). Genesis 14 (the war of the giant kings). Genesis 15 (the ten peoples). Joshua (Arba; Kiriath-arba). Psalm 82. Deuteronomy 32. Ezekiel 32. Revelation 17. Ugaritic texts. The Epic of Gilgamesh. 1 Enoch. The curse of Ham/Canaan (Genesis 9) comes up only in the lineage passage.

Where it disagrees

Asked on a Sasquatch show, Wayne does not call Sasquatch Nephilim. Woodward (Confessionals 889) does: “leftover Nephilim.” Alberino (EP 57) says the opposite: “indigenous to the earth.” Wayne’s royal-cubit sizes conflict with Heiser’s reading of Goliath from the Dead Sea Scrolls and the Septuagint (EP 34). Alberino (EP 57) calls size “irrelevant.”

Runtime is the length of that file. Labels (Documented, Interpretive, Speculative) describe the kind of claim the speaker is making. They are not an Expedition Genesis endorsement.
